Prince William and Harry Kane discuss the mental struggles of football

Before the Qatar 2022 World Cup kicks off, William, Prince of Wales, recently sat down with England duo Harry Kane and Declan Rice to open up the conversation around mental health, discussing their significant football memories.

His Royal Highness said that “You learn by playing a number of times and many other things in life that disappointment is part of life and how you handle it is crucial.”

Captain Kane, of Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United midfielder Rice both described the impact of losing the Euro 2020 final to Italy on penalties, with Rice admitting it was “the worst moment of my career.” The pair did, however, add that the team has learnt from that and revealed the defeat had brought the squad closer together. England’s World Cup campaign gets underway on 21st November with their Group B match against Iran.
